STA Renewal Coming Soon

The US Composting Council appreciates STA Participants’ patience with the delayed annual STA renewal for the fiscal year July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, and want to let you know that a very exciting announcement is coming out soon. 

Over the last 12 months, our team has been working hard to build a new technology that will streamline your engagement with the STA Program, safely secure your details, and support you in maintaining good standing with the STA Program. The new technology will be your Gateway to everything STA. From renewals, to adding new products or derivatives of products, you will have one place to keep track of your invoices, certificates, test results, permits and more. We anticipate that Phase 1 of the Gateway will be finalized soon and renewals will be launched in a few weeks. If you are a participant in the STA program, you will receive a detailed email, as well as be invited to a webinar to walk you through using the new technology for the renewal process. 

In the meantime, please review the linked new 2021-22 STA Agreement and the new 2021-22 Consumer Compost Use Program (CCUP) Agreement documents. We have updated our definition of compost, rules for committees reviewing test results, tightened the program with fraud penalties, adjusted our new applicant proration structure, and added an optional fast-track fee for new applicants. Please note that we have  increased the annual fees for the program for the first time in 5 years. We are also excited to share the new marketing tools we have been working on, and reminders of items you would benefit from taking advantage of as an STA Participant. Everything from how to use our social media tools, to how to leverage the Victory Garden movement will be at your fingertips. Our Market Development Committee is here to diligently support STA Program Participants and is looking forward to meeting your needs as the STA Program continues to grow.

We understand that having an active certificate of participation in STA is crucial for your facility’s bids on new projects. While we are waiting to begin renewals, if you would like to request an extension for your facility’s expired certificate, please email Hessa Al Maghlouth, our Administrative Assistant.
