Julie Mach is the owner and operator of Elements Mountain Compost in Salida, Colorado.

Elements provides compost hauling, processing and sales to a small rural community in central Colorado. Julie started the business in 2014 with a passion for waste reduction and circular economies. She has worked for non-profits in the recreation and conservation field for over a decade while composting on the side but is excited to lean in to growth and new learning opportunities. Elements was recently accepted into two business accelerator programs and is anticipating a rapid expansion in 2022/23. When not composting, Julie is usually out playing in the mountains on skis or a mountain bike!

"I decided to pursue a professional credential through the USCC because my composting business is entering a rapid expansion phase and I will be pursuing new funding opportunities. I think the USCC credential will lend professionalism and legitimacy to my grant funding applications, investor pitches and more. In a relatively obscure industry, it is helpful to have a certifying entity to demonstrate knowledge and skills to the outside world!”
