The Compost Conference is my favorite time of the year and it’s hard to believe that we are just 136 days away. We are thrilled to have some fantastic presenters this year. I am excited to invite all of our members to attend COMPOST2023, our 31st Annual Conference, Tradeshow and Equipment Demonstration Day. Registration will launch Monday Sept. 12. With over 100 speakers, the world's largest live compost equipment demonstration, over 100 exhibitors, and multiple workshops and tours, COMPOST2023 will have something for everyone! There will be program tracts on policy, compost research, operations, marketing compost and this year a unique California tract. USCC members get exclusive early access at the lowest pricing available until Nov. 1.

This year we are thrilled to be hosting a Composter Community Forum, multiple workshops, a full day tour of five unique compost facilities, and our massive equipment demonstration day (demo day). We are honored to host our closing keynote speaker Michael Martinez Founder of LA Compost. Michael is a former elementary school teacher, a father of two, and the Founder and Executive Director of LA Compost. Michael has grown LA Compost from a group of volunteers collecting organics using bikes, to a decentralized network of community compost hubs that span across the most populated county in the country. LA Compost now oversees over 40 compost hubs, all in partnership with existing communities, nonprofits, and organizations committed to healthy ecosystems inclusive of food access and healthy community engagement. The mission of LA Compost is to restore lost connections to the soil and one another.

Mr. Martinez’s presentation will discuss the importance of composting for soil and human health. With a focus on respecting the community’s perspective, lived experience, and leadership, there is an opportunity to create a powerful human network that mimics the beautiful living soil network below the ground.

Now is the time to book your hotels and flights. The USCC has negotiated fantastic rates for hotels in the area.  Flights into Ontario airport will put you half a mile away from the convention center. Flying into LA is NOT advised! Please be advised that there are likely to be a number of scams related to COMPOST2023. Only USCC staff with @compostingcouncil.org & event staff with @greenfernevents.com emails are authorized sources of information. Scams will include hotel bookings, attendee lists, and even event registrations. Don't be a victim of these scammers.

Looking forward to seeing you in sunny California in January!
