The US Composting Council is thrilled to announce that it’s entered a working partnership with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). Founded in 1899, ASLA is the professional association for landscape architects in the United States, representing more than 15,000 members.
This official agreement is the result of hard work and action items put into motion by USCC's Market Development Committee and is in step with its mission to increase and broaden the markets for compost and the Seal of Testing Assurance program. The partnership will provide opportunities for USCC to engage directly with ASLA’s membership, state chapters, committees and professional practice networks on shared initiatives and educational opportunities to provide expertise on compost utilization on the landscape.
A few of the key provisions that the USCC will receive are:
- Annual ad and editorial space in three ASLA publications, including Landscape Architecture Magazine, totaling 50,000 in subscribers
- A USCC seat on ASLA’s Climate Action Committee
- A booth and organizational presence at ASLA’s 2023 annual conference on landscape architecture
- National and State Chapter Membership
In 2022, ASLA released its Climate Action Plan, which outlines a vision in which all landscape architecture projects will simultaneously achieve zero embodied and operational emissions and increase sequestration, restore ecosystems and protect, conserve and enhance biodiversity. The USCC is committed to working with ASLA in providing resources that aid in achieving their climate initiatives and goals detailed in their Climate Action Plan.
USCC's Mission: The US Composting Council advances compost manufacturing, compost utilization and organics recycling to benefit our members, society and the environment.
USCC's Vision: We believe compost manufacturing and compost utilization are central to creating healthy soils, clean air and water, a stable climate and promoting a regenerative society.
ASLA's Mission: Empowering our members to design a sustainable and equitable world through landscape architecture.
ASLA's Vision: Healthy, beautiful and resilient places for all.
With the USCC and ASLA aligning in their mission and vision, the USCC and its dedicated committee members will work to capitalize on an opportunity to continue delivering value and resources to our membership and for our industry.
We look forward to connecting with landscape architects and allied professionals at the ASLA 2023 Conference on Landscape Architecture, and we're equally excited to host ASLA members at Compost 2024 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
