Driving Compost Use With Landscape Architects

The US Composting Council recently had the opportunity to attend and exhibit at the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Conference on Landscape Architecture in Minneapolis.  Our presence at the conference gave USCC an avenue to present and promote the benefits of compost application to a market segment that has the capacity to specify compost on a wide range of projects across the country.  Our booth at the tradeshow was advantageously located directly across from the ASLA Climate Action Basecamp, allowing USCC the opportunity to speak on compost's role in developing climate resilient landscapes.

In addition to speaking and exhibiting at the conference, Matt Ball (USCC) and Kelly Schoonmaker (Stop Waste) were able to tour the current Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Organics Recycling Facility as well as their new facility still under construction, Dakota Prairie Composting.

The USCC attending and Exhibiting at the ASLA Conference is yet another step into developing markets for composters through education and awareness.  A big thanks to Kelly Shoonmaker from Stop Waste, Dustin Montey from SMSC, and to members of USCCs Market Development Committee for working to make our experience at the ASLA conference a huge success.
