New Process Now Available - Required for STA Participants Starting May 1, 2025
The Seal of Testing Assurance Program® is taking a major step forward to better serve our industry and compost markets nationally. We have launched electronic processes for generating the Chain of Custody and Compost Technical Data Sheet in the USCC Gateway.
This image shows where to access the new Chain of Custody and CTDS features in the USCC Gateway.
These digital tools are now available for use and will be fully integrated into the STA Program starting May 1, 2025. This transition is designed to simplify the documentation process, enhance compliance, streamline data management, and support the continued growth of the program alongside our industry.
Benefits of the New Process
- Increased Consumer Confidence in Compost - The USCC Gateway is able to cross-reference compost test results with specific parameters for desired end-use or specifying agency.
- Automated STA Test Tracking - Lab results and test data are automatically linked to Chain of Custody forms, improving record-keeping and reducing the need for manual tracking.
- Enhanced Data Accuracy & Accessibility - Digital records improve tracking and ensure information is readily available.
- Improved Communication - STA labs and participants will receive automatic notifications throughout the new process and allow for better coordination.
- Increased Program Security - The USCC has noticed an increase in fraudulent Compost Technical Data Sheets. This new process ensures that all CTDS documents come directly from the USCC Gateway, preventing fraudulent certification claims and non-STA companies from cheating the system.
Next Steps for STA Participants
- Start to familiarize yourself with the new system - The new process is now live in the USCC Gateway.
- Attend our instructional webinar in early April - This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the new processes and answer participant questions.
- Reach out for assistance – USCC staff are available to support participants during this transition. Please contact us at STA@compostingcouncil.org or call us at 301-897-2715, Ext. 0954.
This update marks a major advancement in modernizing the STA Certified Compost Program®. We encourage all STA participants to log in to the USCC Gateway, explore the new system, and get acquainted with the process ahead of the May 1 transition date.
