USCC Chapter Focus: Virginia Composting Council

The Virginia Composting Council was originally formed in 2014 and had a re-birth in 2018 with a new Board of Directors and president, Ken Bannister of Draper-Aden Associates. About 10 chapter leaders and members met in July at Bannister’s office in Richmond, VA, where they discussed:

• Reaching out and recruiting more compost producers as members
• A goal of a state proclamation for International Compost Awareness Week in 2020
• A membership brochure
• Succession for existing board members and leaders
• Events they will attend and support in the coming year

Member Marshall Hall will begin attending monthly meetings of the USCC Legislative and Environmental Affairs Committee on behalf of VCC.
