Introducing: DEIA Training Module

  DEIA Training Module

An Introduction to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA)
A 30-Minute Self-Paced Training

The USCC is committed to growing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) within the organization and throughout the compost industry by institutionalizing practices in our operations and initiatives.

In line with the US Composting Council’s commitment, the DEIA Committee has been hard at work for the last year, developing a training module that would educate USCC members about the importance and benefits of increasing DEIA.

This training was developed for the USCC by the Oregon State University Center for Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Business. We believe it takes all of us working together to advance meaningful change. This is why we are empowering  our members, with strategies, research, and training to foster inclusiveness.

As our society has become increasingly diverse, more organizations have expressed a desire to advance DEIA in the workplace. Compost manufacturers, suppliers, and customers are no exception. An important first step toward this goal is developing an understanding of foundational DEIA concepts.

This short, self-paced module is directed at people in every type of role and at every level of your organization. It provides a short summary of the research on how successful DEIA initiatives advance business goals, the historical context for DEIA work, and definitions of several key terms and concepts that are commonly used in DEIA literature. The course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, and we recommend the use of a tablet or laptop—not a phone—to most easily access this training.

Join us as we advance meaningful change with DEIA training within our industry!
