Membership Needs Assessment Complete

In the Winter of 2023/24, the USCC Membership Committee contracted out a membership needs assessment to help our entire organization understand the needs of our members. From Early January until COMPOST2024 in Daytona, the survey was open and collected a record number of responses (459) from members, nonmembers, and former members. These results have already helped the membership committee and board of directors make crucial decisions regarding plans related to advocacy and lobbying.

From the five-minute survey, the USCC was able to glean a number of critical data points related to the needs of our members. USCC members most value advocacy and lobbying, compost education, the annual conference, and the increased public awareness of compost!  Many of the reasons that members joined were also notable with the value of education, community, and advocacy all ranking highly in that order. The USCC was also encouraged that a large number of respondents cite the “USCC Mission” as a strong reason for joining!

The USCC’s Membership Committee and Board will use the full results of this survey to better align our goals with the needs of our members! Thank you to all the individuals who participated and thank you to Proc9, LLC for collecting, analyzing and managing this project for the organization.
