State of Good Repair Contracts Advertised

The first round of State of Good Repair (SGR) contracts was advertised in July. Approximately $60M worth of contracts were advertised statewide. Each district had at least one contract. The purpose of these contracts is to return structures (pavements and bridges) to a sound condition. For pavements in these contracts, this means roadways will require more than just a simple maintenance overlay. Most contracts have sites where deeper milling is needed in order to remove deteriorated layers and restore the structural capacity for the projected traffic loading.
One change from the initial advertisement of these contracts is the completion date language. Using the dual date special provision and total days to complete a contract, contractors could receive an incentive. However, if the time to complete exceeds the contracted total days, then a disincentive would be applied. After discussions between VDOT and industry, these provisions have been adjusted. For contractors interested in bidding on these contracts, please refer to the VDOT CABB site for the addendums.
