The VECAT program has recently received exposure on both local and national levels for its leadership in the state’s workforce development initiative, and for excellence in execution of a multi-tiered training program including industry, education and government partners. Read on to see two articles that have been recently published and highlight VECAT’s success in its mission and deployment.
The following article, titled "The Road to a Stable Job—Without Crippling Student Debt," was featured online by the publication Washington Monthly. In the article, senior writer Anne Kim focuses on how state grant funds have made it possible for workers to earn educational credentials and on-the-job-experience, thus helping them toward securing higher paying positions in Virginia’s lucrative asphalt industry.
Culpeper’s Star Exponent newspaper also published a featured article in its October 11 edition titled "Governor joked about 'asphalt technology' but recognized potential for safer roads, economic boost." Here you can read about VECAT’s major impact on Governor Terry McAuliffe’s goals for merging the development and maintenance of the state’s roadways with career development and closing the skills gap in Virginia.
VECAT is happy to share these articles and strives to continue to be a pioneer in the state's goals of developing and promoting workforce programs across industries.
