Pavement Evaluation 2019

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Do not miss the opportunity to present your work at the main pavement evaluation event of the year.  Please submit your abstract before May 1, 2019.

Held in 2002, 2010, and 2014, this conference builds on the previous conference’s accomplishments by combining the annual Road Profiler Users’ Group meeting with discussions and presentations from other disciplines of non-destructive pavement evaluation. In addition to profiling, other topics of interest include texture and friction measurement, tire-pavement noise, ground penetrating radar (GPR), video distress rating, and structural testing. The conference welcomes representatives from government transportation agencies, academia and private industry. This event will benefit end-users, operators, researchers, construction and design engineers, and manufacturers who have an interest in the equipment, methods, and use of non-destructive pavement evaluation. It is also highly recommended for consultants, contractors, and construction equipment developers who are in the business of meeting performance requirements for traveled surfaces. The conference will include equipment demonstrations at the Virginia Smart Road in Blacksburg, Virginia.

This two-day conference will cover all aspects related to measuring and analyzing the function and condition of pavement and will be structured in the following general themes:

1. Functional evaluation, including:
  a. Emerging technologies
  b. Performance measures
  c. Construction acceptance
  d. Administering warranties
2. Structural analysis methods and tools, including:
  e. Emerging techniques
  f.  Continuous deflection technologies and data analysis
  g. Construction acceptance
  h. Mechanistic design
3. General pavement evaluation, including:
  i.  Use of pavement management to make business decisions
  j.  Use of pavement management to improve network health
  k. Use of pavement data to define/refine specifications Case studies
