VAMA Conference Take Away: Multi Session Recap

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Wow! I just returned home from VAMA and what an amazing time I had!  The positive vibes/energy at the conference were remarkable!

The following is a brief recap takeaways for each of my sessions:

"Delivering Legendary Service with Your Sales and Service Teams"

Exceptional service used to be the benchmark to strive for, however, with our ever changing customer and their expectations, exceptional service is no longer acceptable. It is time to step it up to the next level and deliver legendary service!

Takeaway #1 - Practice Presentology! We are all moving at warped speed and we are challenged with multiple projects and stressors. We are on 24/7, 365 days a year. We have lost our focus factor and we live in an age of constant distraction.  It is vital to be present with every interaction. I call it being a presentologist!

Be present and be there for people. As Mary Kay Ash, founder of Mary Kay cosmetics, said "Picture everyone you meet with a sign on their forehead that says, "Make me feel important!"

Takeaway #2 - Personal Memorable = Unforgettable! The success formula to delivering legendary service is to discover something personal about your customer, do something memorable for your customer and you become unforgettable to that customer.

And lastly, remember this: The one thing your competition can never steal from you is the relationship you have with your team players and the relationship your team members have with your residents!!

"Swimming In A Sea of Sameness...6 Ways To Stay Afloat and Get Noticed In 2014!

In a world where everyone is "doing the same thing, saying the same thing and delivering the same message," what makes you different; what makes you stand-out and get noticed?

Takeaway #1 - Read the book "What’s Your Purple Goldfish?" by Stan Phelps. This book is jam-packed with ideas and strategies to get noticed - it is a must read.

Takeaway #2 - Practice G.L.U.E. Marketing! Develop a marketing program focused on GLUE. G-iving L-ittle U-nexpected E-xtras. That’s what all of us are craving and looking for in today’s world. Huddle up with your team members and brainstorm to uncover and expand on the unexpected extras you a currently giving or create new ones!

Takeaway #3 - Think both inside the box and outside the box. It is just too easy to keep doing the same things over and over again, expecting different results. If we are not careful, we fall in the "because we have always done it that way trap." Take a look at the practices and processes you currently have in place and really ask yourself if those practices and processes are still serving you well?  If not, change them! Be open to new ideas and change.

Remember...It’s all about the human connection! "People will not remember what you said or what you did, but they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel!"

"Your Personal GPS...Journey to Success!"

In our fast paced technology world we live in, it has become more and more stressful and challenging to stay in a place of harmony with our personal and professional lives. Powerful, personable human connections are what we all crave and yearn for while on our journey of life, and it all begins with YOU!

Takeaway #1 - The three traveling companions you need on your journey to success: Commitment, Confidence and Competence!
Commitment - take personal responsibility for your personal and professional choices for success. Do you have goals? What’s your destination? Dream it! Visualize it! Achieve it!

Confidence Motivation = Action! Find a mentor, be an optimist, avoid energy vampires, and surround yourself with people who lift you up and believe in you and encourage you.

Competence - The three components for competence are knowledge, skill, and attitude - be a lifetime learner!

Takeaway #2 - Know when to stop and rest. Take a vacation!  It does wonders for your ability to re-charge and refocus. Eat well, exercise and take big breaths and just BE!

Remember - you cannot take care of others unless you take care of yourself first!

Takeaway #3 - Synergize! Put your ego aside and reach out to others when you are feeling funky. We are all on the journey of life and we all need each other. It’s far too lonely to travel alone!

I am truly honored to have the opportunity to present and share with all of you who attended my sessions! What a wonderful experience I had, I hope you feel the same way!

Please feel free to reach out to me.

Warm hugs!
