Development News
A local developer is requesting rezoning from agricultural to residential to build single family homes and a 288 unit apartment community.
The Virignia Beach Planning Commission delayed a vote regarding a high rise apartment buildig on the oceanfront citing lack of details.  
An LLC tied to Campus Apartments purchased the 219 unit Collection Midtown portfolio on July 12.
After a storage facility was not approved during zoning, the owner of 901 River road plans a 45 unit building with studio and one bedroom apartments and a warehouse for auto parts.
Riverton Apartments will be torn down to be replaced with more than twice the units and will be called Freedman Point.
Chesterfield Board of Supervisors approved the plan for the project, currently named Commonwealth Apartments, which is set to begin construction in spring of 2019.
The former Quality Inn in Richmond's Scott's Addition neighborhood is under contract.  The purchaser has not been officially announced.  Closing is scheduled for December.
Vakos Development has big plans for this site.  In the past 24 months alone, Spotsylvania has approved 8,207 housing units, according to a Vakos flyer touting Southpoint Landing. So far, 826 units have been completed and are quickly being rented or sold.
Charlottesville City Council approved plans to lessen the parking reequirements at Friendship Village.  Will this pave the way for future affordable housing projects?
