The Eastern Shore hosted a meeting to discuss the lack of affordable housing.  Developers site specific circumstances where crucial projects were defeated by elected officials because of NIMBY comments.

Development News
The Woodlands at Oyster Point has been purchased and new owners plan a major renovation.
The "Soda Flats" plans call for 67 one bedroom apartments and 6 two-bedroom apartments with retail on the ground floor of a 7-story building.
Sturbridge Square Apartments to be redeveloped into 424 units in 6 buildings.
Chesterfield County had been interested in an online development plan submission process prior to the outbreak of Covid-19.  The pandemic sped up the timeline and now developers can submit plans via email.  Is your locality using technology to restore services?
Southpoint Reserve at Stoney Creek, a 156-unit apartment community in Fredericksburg sold for $23.5 Million.
A key piece of land sold, which clears the way for development of 535 apartments near Rocketts Landing.
A 5-story building is planned for the intersection of Maywill and Thalbro Streets in Henrico.  Construction is expected to begin in June.
Plans were filed for additional one- and two-bedroom apartments this week.  A six-story, mixed-use building is proposed.
Chesterfield Board of Supervisors designated certain parts of Jefferson Davis Highway as "revitalization areas" in order to help developers secure financing for apartment construction which is sorely needed in the area.
Scott's Addition will be home to another apartment building - 80 units, 5 stories and developed by a Richmond-based company.
Named "Artistry at Winterfield", this project is well underway and plans call for one- and two-bedroom apartments.
