Starting on May 11, applications to the Rent Relief Program need to include applicant information related to assets and income due to federal mandates handed down by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC)’s Rent Payment Tracker, which surveys over 11.7 million apartment units each month, found that 80% of households made a full or partial payment between May 1 - 6, 2021. This is down from the 80.2% that had made a payment by May 6, 2020, and up from the 79.8% that had made a payment by April 6, 2021.
With rising of vaccination cases and a decline of COVID-19 cases, Governor Northam is hoping that by June 15th, Virginia will lift the emergency restrictions on public gatherings and social distancing.  Restrictions will already be lifted starting May 15 for restaurants, entertainment venues and indoor social gatherings. Gov. Northam and his staff also said that Virginia will continue to follow CDC guidance on masks.

On April 28 - 30, VAMACON21 was held virtually and in-person at the Hilton Norfolk, The Main. We had 220 registered to attend, 130 registered in-person and 37 supplier companies representated. You could feel the excitement in the air as those in-person attendees arrived at the Hotel, many of which were attending their first in-person event in over a year. Both virtual and in-person attendees had access to 29 education and motivational sessions along with a chance to network with our VAMACON supplier partners.
