Earlier this week, the Virginia General Assembly finalized a budget plan that returned to the process for evictions that was imposed during the 2020 special session. 
  
If you have your CAM, CALP (formerly NALP), or CAPS credential, you probably already know that you are required to submit continuing education credits (CECs) every year upon renewal. But did you know that NAA has updated their CEC requirements for 2022? CAM and CAPS will now require 8 CECs per year, and CALP will require 5. 
VAMA's 2022 dues structure, in which the per-unit dues rate remains unchanged, has been approved by the Board of Directors. 
The National Multifamily Housing Council’s Rent Payment Tracker found 80.2% of apartment households made a payment by August 6, 2021, which is a 0.9 percentage point increase from payments made through August 6, 2020.

Barracks West, located five minutes from the University of Virginia, was sold to Willow Creek Partners for just shy of $45 million. 
Chesterfield County plans to buy Spring Rock Green shopping center for $16 million and redevelop it for mixed-use. The project would include more than 1,000 residential units, close to 300,000 square feet of office and retail space, and a hotel. 
100-Unit Turnpike Townhomes sold by Danville Investors LLC for $7.85 million.
One Canal, a seven-story, 138-unit apartment community in Monroe Ward is now more than halfway complete. Units will average 685 square feet, and rents have not been set yet. 
Eighty-two units will be redeveloped between Randolph Apartments and Stoval Apartments, and will cost $6.4 million. 
The new owners of Atlantis Apartments, near the Virginia Beach oceanfront, will begin an 18-month, $14.5 million renovation of the community this fall.
