The Hampton Roads chapter of the Virginia Apartment Management Association hosted almost 900 individuals at the 10th Annual ACE Awards on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Each year, impartial judges tour Hampton Roads area communities and interview team members and have recognized the following apartment communities and staff as leaders in the field of property management. 
A Rentcafe report that studied 1500 zip codes in the United States found that 101 zip codes have flipped from homeowner-dominant to renter-dominant in the last decade. 41% of zip codes in the 50 largest cities have now become renter majority.

PRG Real Estate acquired Heather Lake Apartments, a 252-unit garden-style community located on Tide Mill Lane. The community features one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units within 22 buildings. 
The Fort Monroe Authority has plans for historic buildings to be repurposed into two multifamily communities. The authority has a developer and is now seeking permits, expecting construction to take 12-18 months. 
Plans filed for Augusta Ave call for four floors of apartments above structured parking and 1,100 square feet of commercial space. The building would house 125 one-bedroom and 35 two-bedroom apartments as well as 4,600 square feet of amenity space. 
Newport News broke ground this month on a mixed-use project in the Ridley Place neighborhood. The development will include a three-story, 41-unit apartment building with retail space on the ground floor. 
The 17-story Wytestone Plaza building on E. Main St, originally built in the 1960s, is planned to undergo a conversion into 300 apartment units. The ground floor will house commercial space, the second floor will house resident amenities, and the remaining 15 floors will have a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. 
Spy Rock filed plans for a 301-unit multifamily community on N. Allen Ave, west of VCU. The plans call for a five-story apartment building and 423-space parking deck. 
Gramercy Row Apartment Residences, built in downtown Roanoke in 2017, has 82 apartments and ground floor commercial space.
