On Wednesday, January 11, a few usually-sleepy blocks of downtown Richmond will spring alive when hundreds of political pilgrims come to Mr. Jefferson’s Capitol from all around Virginia to participate in one of the oldest traditions in America, the Virginia General Assembly Session. Our part-time legislature will be meeting (putatively) for 46 days as is customary in odd-numbered years this year. 
  
The New River Valley chapter of the Virginia Apartment Management Association hosted their annual Summit Awards on the evening of December 13 at the Inn at Virginia Tech.  These awards celebrate both community and individual excellence awards within the New River Valley area.. Please join us in congratulating the winners from this prestigious program!

Echelon Resources has applied for rezoning and a special use permit to redevelop a shuttered tire factory in Scottsville into 200 apartments. If approved, the town's population could grow from roughly 600 residents to 1,000.
147-unit LIHTC affordable townhome community Timber Ridge Townhomes was sold to Linden Property Group for $34.3 million. 
Breeden Construction, a nationally acclaimed multifamily builder, is pleased to announce it has been awarded the contract to serve as general contractor to continue developing community infrastructure and housing for Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority’s Marshall-Ridley Choice Neighborhood. The developers for the project are Pennrose and Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
City Council approved a rezoning and seven conditional use permits for 714 new units within the Tidewater Gardens public housing redevelopment that began last year. The new phase will consist of 3- and 4-story apartment buildings with elevators, 3-story apartment walk-ups and 2-story townhomes. 260 of the units are reserved for previous Tidewater Gardens residents, 238 will be afffordable units, and the remaining 216 units will be market-rate.
Dodson Development Group has plans to raze the vacant Bank of America building at 4701 Forest Hill Ave. to make way for a 3-story mixed-use development. The building will house 40 apartments, each with their own patio or deck, and 8,000 square feet of commercial space.
The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority will be restoring the now-vacant 11-story building at 400 E. Grace Street. After the rehab is complete, all 58 units will be used as public or lower-income housing.
