Residential permits and construction starts rebounded in July 2014, after declining in the two previous months and in six of the past nine months, the U.S. Census Bureau reported in late August.
The statistics showed 1,057,000 privately owned housing units, measured on a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR), were authorized by building permits in July. That number was 8.6% higher than the revised June rate of 973,000 and 8.2% greater than the July 2013 estimate of 977,000.
