With February 8th having marked the procedural halfway point in the Virginia General Assembly, this "crossover" period is the deadline by which all measures must be approved in their chamber of origin, or else fail to move forward for the year. To date, VAMA has compiled numerous successes working on your behalf, advancing legislation to benefit property owners and managers across Virginia.

UVA and the Charlottesville Police Department are opening a permanent police substation on The Corner at UVA in an effort to improve student safety. A temporary structure was put in place in response to the slaying of Hannah Graham last fall. The station will only be staffed during high traffic times, Thursday to Saturday nights. The university has also hired private security contractor, G4S, to serve as "security ambassadors" on campus. They will be positioned in high traffic areas and will escort students home who would otherwise be traveling alone.
