ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) April Lynch grew up in the Roanoke area. She said the city looked different years ago.
"We wouldn't see that many restaurants," said Lynch. "A lot of the buildings were abandoned." Recently, several of those abandoned buildings have been turned into apartments, more are popping up.

A Richmond-area development group has purchased the vacant Whittaker Memorial Hospital and could begin renovating the historic building into a 62-unit apartment building by the beginning of next year.

The New River Valley Apartment Council will be hosting a Certified Apartment Manager Course running from November 14th through 18th. This week-long format will demonstrate that attendees have the knowledge and ability to manage an apartment communities and achieve owner's investment goals. This credential course will be held all week, and will focus on topics such as: Marketing, Financial Management, HR, Legal Responsibilities, Property Maintenance and Risk Management.
