The 2017 General Assembly session was a huge success for VAMA Members. VAMA's legislative efforts paid off in real dollars with the defeat of bills such as:
1. A 5% cap on any and all late fees;
2. A required 7-day grace period;
3. The ability for a utility department to put a lien on YOUR property for renters' unpaid utility bills;
4. Making it a crime for management to fail to inspect a unit within three days of a move out (for abandoned pets).

VAMA lobbyists and members testified against several of these measures and these bills were defeated. VAMA's positive legislative efforts passed both houses and await signature by the Governor.
