Workforce Development
Earlier this fall, Governor Northam responded to AGCVA’s request and proclaimed October as Virginia’s Careers in Construction Month! The following challenge was issued to the AGCVA members across the state – “How are YOU going to celebrate?”
AGCVA companies answered the call by hosting or attending events all month long to celebrate Careers in Construction. Members supported 6 SkillsUSA construction contests at the State Fair. We hosted Awareness Socials with Guidance Counselors and Career Coaches. We exposed over 15,000 students to our Build Your Future campaign at Career Expos peppered across Virginia.
Thank you for celebrating with us and teaching Virginia how to Go Pro in Construction!
Central District recently hosted the Lynchburg area school Counselors at a CTE Counselor’s Social. The counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell and Lynchburg City were all present. AGCVA members were able to capture the attention of the Counselors providing them with information and opportunities for students seeking internships or careers in the construction industry.
