John C. Myers Elementary School Renovation
Broadway, Va.
A major renovation of John C. Myers Elementary School in Broadway, Va. gave a total face lift to the nearly 60 year old building. Work began in March 2019, and was completed in 14 phases in order to provide as little interruption as possible to the students, staff, and administration of the school. Each phase was completely gutted, and new mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems were installed along with new lighting, ceilings, flooring, and cabinetry. The former outdated spaces were reconfigured to accommodate modern educational needs. A loading dock was installed in the back of the school, and the kitchen was fully updated. Through the team effort of various firms and subcontractors, including 15 contractor members of the AGC of America, the renovation was completed in late summer 2020 prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
The Central district held their first fishing tournament at Smith Mountain Lake. First Place was Ben Brovont (Procon, Inc.) pulling in a 32 inch Striper. His entire team benefited from his catch. The shortest fish was an individual prize going to Nick Mistretta (Rosser Design & Landscping, LLC) for his 18 inch Striper.
