Old Dominion University on Friday announced plans to rebuild and expand the 81-year-old S.B. Ballard Stadium. Construction on phase one of the $65 million project will begin this summer and end before the home opener of the 2019 football season.
ODU’s Department of Design and Construction is working with Intercollegiate Athletics and a design and construction management team that includes Moseley Architects, Populous and S.B. Ballard Construction.

Michael Thomas Laughon of Laughon and Johnson, Inc. in Bedford Va recently passed away. He was an active member of the Central District and involved in the success of AGCVA. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, a son, a brother, several nieces and nephews.

Robert Taylor Lawson (father of John Lawson - W.M. Jordan) recently passed away. He started a long and successful career as a partner with Bill Jordan in 1958. He retired five years ago, but remained Chairman of the Board until this past February.
He is survived by two sons and two daughter in-laws, one daughter, two stepchildren, thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a brother in-law.
The family is making a donation to the Virginia Living Museum (524 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601) in his memory.
