Riddleberger Brothers

Riddleberger Brothers Inc., based in Mt. Crawford, (Valley District) was recently recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia for having a registered apprenticeship program for 76 years!

RBI places importance on hiring skilled employees and training them to be the next generation workforce for our trades. Additionally, RBI encourages employees to become licensed in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Backflow preventers for both Virginia and West Virginia, offering both on-the-job training and tuition payments for vocational training. All fees associated with journeyman licensing, including exams, renewals, and continuing education, are paid to promote employee career growth.

Austin Barb and Jacob Allen are currently registered apprentices with RBI. Both started working part-time with RBI in April of 2019 through Massanutten Technical Center’s Work Based Learning program. Upon completion of the required vocational classes, both Austin and Jacob began working full-time. They are still registered apprentices and currently working to complete the work hours and classes to obtain their journeyman licensing.

Austin and Jacob continue to grow their skillset and have attended several trade related trainings including NFPA 70E, Trane RTAE, Trane TRAC, Trane Intellipak, Morin Distribution, State Electric VFD Drive and Smith System Defensive Driver class. They have worked hard and have become valuable assets to the RBI team while advancing in their careers within the company’s HVAC department. Austin and Jacob are two of many apprentices who have begun successful, meaningful careers as a result of RBI’s long-standing apprenticeship program.
