(Valley District) wins Silver at the 2023 Brandon Hall Group Human Capital Management (HCM) Excellence Awards, which recognize best practices for initiatives in Learning & Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Sales Performance, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and the Future of Work.

Blauch Brothers Inc. earned the prestigious Brandon Hall Group Silver award for excellence in the "Best Advance in Competencies and Skill Development" category.

 

W.M. Jordan Compnay Wins Engineering News-Record National Excellence in Safety Award

W. M. Jordan Company (Peninsula District) won the Engineering News-Record National Excellence in Safety Award after the completion of The Forum Hotel Charlottesville!
After winning ENR Mid-Atlantic’s Excellence in Safety Award, The Forum Hotel moved up to national competition, where a panel of judges examined each project to choose the best of the best based on teamwork, safety, overcoming challenges, innovation and quality.  This recognition exemplifies W. M. Jordan’s commitment to safety and demonstrating the core values of the Virginia BEST program.

 

New ACE Center Building at Hermitage High Opens for Henrico Students

Henrico County Public Schools (Richmond District) opened its new 85,000-square-foot Advanced Career Education Center building at Hermitage High School on January 8 for students in the Workforce & Career Development program.

The new facility, which sits in front of the old ACE Center building at Hermitage, has a modern concept with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a big forum space with round tables at the entrance of the building that seats 400. Surrounding the forum are classrooms visible to visitors via the large glass windows that show a number of the center’s programs: culinary arts, video and media productions, web design, radio broadcasting, and more. Massanutten Technical Center Students Building Structures and Friendships

At Massanutten Technical Center, students get real-world experience in their future career paths. For two members of the carpentry program, they’re building their skills and a special bond.

In the fall of 2023, Joshua Martinez and Lukas Alt were assigned together by their instructor Travis Knight, the two boys quickly hit it off and have been working together each class period.

“Working to learn to build houses is good for my future and Josh is an awesome friend to work with because he helps me learn more,” Alt said.

Like their fellow classmates, Joshua and Lukas both love to build, with their teamwork being present from the very beginning.
