Brandon Robinson and I just returned from three very busy days of multiple breakout sessions, panels, and keynote speakers at AGC of America's National Chapter Leadership Conference (NCLC). This is an annual conference held in Washington, D.C., involving all AGC chapter leaders in the nation coming together to share their knowledge on how to better serve our members overall. Your membership has real benefits, not only those exclusive to our AGCVA members, but as a member of AGCVA you also have full access to the many benefits available through AGC of America. I often use the saying “you can bring a horse to water, but can’t make them drink” when discussing AGC member value. I am going to lead you to a pool with just a few of the member benefits of AGC America – I hope you’ll have a sip...
Please join us in celebrating the membership anniversaries of these longtime AGCVA members!
Each month, we recognize those celebrating 50 or more years, 40 years, 25 years, 10 years, and 5 years of membership.
We applaud each of you for your commitment to AGCVA.
By virtue of your membership, you have made the AGCVA community stronger and shown tremendous leadership and dedication to the industry. We are proud to serve each of you and we thank you for your membership in AGCVA.
Nonresidential construction input prices dipped for a second consecutive month in August, providing more evidence that construction material costs peaked in June and supporting newfound optimism in the sector.
Contractors will need to demonstrate effective use of capital to win work. Smart resource management, proactive decision-making and using data to prove past performance will be key advantages, and technology can help.
The Associated General Contractors of America has reported that it expects a ruling soon on its lawsuit opposing the federal vaccine mandate.
With labor shortages and limited availability of construction materials due to ongoing supply chain disruptions, construction businesses are facing unexpected consequences from these ongoing challenges—one being the potential for increased insurance policy costs.
Virginia’s push to help active-duty military personnel find work as they leave the service and to connect veterans with employers has done just that for 100,000 over the last decade. The Virginia Values Veterans Program offers grants for companies that go through its certification process up to $1,000 for each eligible veteran hired and up to $10,000 in all.
Build Your Future (BYF) aims to be the catalyst for recruiting the next generation of craft professionals.
As part of that mission, they work to provide a number of helpful resources to companies, associations, recruiters and other representatives of the construction industry. Careers in construction are desirable, attractive and fulfilling, but it will take a team effort to showcase the opportunities to today’s students.

The Associated General Contractors of America is launching a new effort to combat high suicide rates and improve mental health among the industry’s workers, the trade group announced today. The new effort, which the association is launching as part of its support for suicide prevention month, is designed to address the high rate of suicide among construction workers.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention says suicide “most often occurs when stress and health issues converge to create feelings of hopelessness and despair.” What specific risk factors are prevalent in construction, and how can companies and the broader industry, work to combat this crisis? The discussion around construction workers’ mental health is gaining traction, and while no one has all the answers, one thing is clear: We need to talk about it.
