Labor Day weekend brings an unfortunate increase in impaired driving fatalities. Last year, Virginia troopers stopped 4,550 speeders and 1,561 reckless drivers; arrested 55 drivers for DUI/DUID; and cited 445 seatbelt violations. According to Virginia DMV data, over the 2020 four-day holiday weekend there were 1,143 crashes, 20 fatalities, and 751 injuries.
