Brenda Partlow of Partlow Insurance Agency in Winchester began her insurance career in 1986 on the West Coast. After relocating to California for her husband’s job, Brenda began working in the Personal lines department at an independent insurance agency. Three and a half years later Brenda’s husband was transferred again, this time to Oregon. Here, she worked for another independent insurance agency for nine months before her husband was relocated again. After a series of short term transfers, Brenda decided to stay at home and raise their son. When she and her family returned to Virginia fifteen years later, she took a position at Partlow Insurance Agency in their Commercial Lines Department.
Partlow Insurance Agency is a family owned business, so Brenda gets to work alongside her brother-in-law, Jerry, two nephews, Michael and Brian and her husband, Dave. The agency specializes in social service, medical malpractice and transportation as well as having outstanding personal and commercial lines departments. Brenda mainly works with the social service and school accounts. Being able to help these programs and see the work they do so graciously for others is one of Brenda’s favorite aspects of working in the insurance industry. "I feel like I am a small part of their success".
Continuing education has always been important to Brenda. In 1987 she obtained the CIC designation, but let it expire due to the frequent moves. She does hope to regain this designation at some point. In 2010, Brenda obtained her Commercial Lines ACSR designation. She wanted to increase her industry knowledge and felt the ACSR classes could help her accomplish this. Having this designation is very gratifying and she feels more confident in her line of work.
Outside of work, Brenda stays busy with her family and friends. When her son was still in high school she was very active in the Athletic Association. Now, Brenda enjoys spending time with her husband Dave and their extended family that also live in Winchester. She also looks forward to her son's visits from Virginia Tech.
