As we move into the final quarter of the year our thinking shifts to 2021 planning and the associated budgeting process. It is time to work "on" the business.

An agency success and value story is often driven by growth, and growth is a function of a sound marketing strategy. Now is the time to again ask the tough questions; are your target market, ideal client and service niche still valid? How have the needs and desires of your target market changed? Is your value proposition still compelling to customers and prospects right now? Is your messaging still appropriate? How have the players in your agency ecosystem changed?

Next steps: Schedule time to develop your 2021 marketing strategy. Challenge the assumptions for your market risks, threats and opportunities. Adjust where necessary so that you are positioned for success in 2021.

This was supposed to be Hampton Roads' year — the year its economy grew faster than the nation’s. Instead, the global coronavirus pandemic cost the region its rosy future and exposed systemic economic inequality, according to the annual State of the Region report by Old Dominion University economists released Tuesday. “We are witnessing an economic, social and public health shock the likes of which has not been seen in this country since the Great Depression,” said the report’s authors.

The brand refresh was announced in conjunction with product expansion in the company’s commercial insurance markets.
There’s no question the coronavirus pandemic has taken a heavy toll on our nation. It has caused the deaths of nearly 200,000 Americans, brought about unprecedented economic turmoil and continues to harm the lives of everyday people.

But not everyone is lamenting the devastation wrought by the coronavirus. Indeed, for certain trial lawyers, COVID-19 isn’t a tragedy — it’s an opportunity.
