Lobby Day

In January each year, the VPTA Legislative Committee, interested members and students descend on the General Assembly Building in Richmond to speak with State Delegates and Senators about Physical Therapy. This is affectionately known as Lobby Day. This is a time where VPTA members provide a voice for Physical Therapy and discuss how pending legislative actions impact our field of choice.

Unfortunately, the General Assembly Building will be under construction in January of 2018. Consequently, the Board has decided not to hold a formal Lobby Day meeting this coming year. Four members of the Executive Committee and Legislative Committee will represent the VPTA in person. This will allow us to continue to share our positions with lawmakers despite the space constraints at the General Assembly. Please make note of this change.

In lieu of attending Lobby Day, I encourage you to meet with your legislators during their office hours and at their local town hall meetings. The State Legislative Liaison will continue to organize the APTA/VPTA action app to provide you with information, including specific talking points. Please use this information to guide your discussions with your legislators.
