The final event of the Mercer-Marquette Challenge for the Foundation for Physical Therapy was coordinated by VCU DPT students Katie Greenberg and Hayden Smith to bring in $8,500! Gloria Han was the overall coordinator for the Challenge, which raised $40,955.  We will find out at the Foundation Gala at the APTA NEXT meeting where that effort places them among all the schools.

We had a fun VCU alumni weekend on Saturday, April 21st. Thirteen graduates of the class of 1968 returned to their old classroom in South Hospital and shared fond memories of Sue Hirt, “Mac” and Carlton Jones.  They walked across to the present facilities in the basement of West Hospital and then finished off with a Hard Hat tour of the future fancy new glass-sided building that will house all of the departments (including physical therapy) in the newly renamed “College of Health Professions.”  We hope to move in right after graduation, 2019.  The alumni returned on Sunday morning to be inducted into the Grand Alumni Society and to award Jane Hill for her Lifetime of Achievements.

Of course, all the schools in Virginia are excited to be awarding diplomas this week and proud to have another generation of terrific physical therapists in Virginia and beyond.
