Kim Wesdock, PT, MS, PCS was an extraordinary woman. She spent her life serving and advocating for children all over the world.  As a Board Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist, she volunteered with organizations such as Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) and World Pediatric Project (WPP), teaching local health care providers and evaluating patients as part of yearly mission trips. She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and was actively involved in research.

In recognition of Kim’s extraordinary dedication and love for her WPP children, she was awarded the 2018 WPP Julian C. Metts Humanitarian of the Year Award; as she personified Dr. Metts’ philosophy that caring people could work together to “heal a child and change the world.”  She earned Poster of the Year Award in 2001 for her work on the three-segment foot model for gait analysis.  She received the Concilium for Catholic Education School Program of the Year Award for her creation of a Backpack Awareness Program.  Kim was a Professional Ski Instructors of America, Level 1, adaptive ski instructor at the Wintergreen Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia; where she also participated on the Board of Directors. While Kim volunteered all over the world, she also served here at home.  She contributed to the Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA)’s Pediatric Special Interest Group (PSIG) by serving as secretary in 1999.

Kim loved her work and she loved her family.  She was an amazing clinician, colleague, mentor, and fierce advocate for children.  She will be missed.  We offer our heartfelt condolences to her husband, Jim, and their three grown sons.
