PT Day of Service is coming up!!!

PT Day of Service is a wonderful event that unites thousands of PTs and PT students from over 50 countries with one common goal: to help better communities around the globe!

PT Day of Service is October 12, 2019.

Be sure to take photos! We would love to feature you and your group on our Facebook and Instagram accounts! Submit photos to Ashley Humphries at ahumphries2@email.radford.edu.

Community Service Recognition

The VPTA SSIG would like to recognize students and programs in Virginia who participate in community service outreach and projects! Students who are interested in sharing their experiences should write a short description highlighting the project and include any pictures from the experience and submit them to our Director, Ashley Humphries, at ahumphries2@email.radford.edu. These experiences will be shared on the SSIG social media platforms in order to recognize the hard work and service Virginia students are putting in outside of the classroom!

VPTA SSIG Student Spotlight

Do you know a deserving student who should be featured in our Student Spotlight? The SSIG encourages all PT and PTA students to fill out the Student Spotlight Google Form to share leadership experiences, why VPTA membership is valued, and/or nominate a fellow student. Students who participate are also encouraged to submit a photo along with their information on the form to be featured on our social media accounts. Through this effort, we hope to provide students with a better understanding of the benefits of being a VPTA/APTA member and improve membership carryover upon graduation.

Contact Ashley Humphries at ahumphries2@ehmail.radford.edu with any questions.

Looking for ways to get involved?

There are currently several opportunities to get involved with the VPTA SSIG! Don’t miss your chance to contribute to your state’s professional organization. The VPTA Student SIG is currently looking for individuals interested in fundraising, contributions to the communications committee and PTA program liaison positions.

The fundraising committee will collaborate to plan and execute various fundraising initiatives that will contribute to enhancing the learning experience of Virginia PT and PTA students. Please contact Luke Reardon at lreardon@radford.edu with any questions or if you are interested in being considered.

Follow Us on Social Media!

We are working on revamping VPTA SSIG social media accounts by posting content regularly and promoting VPTA membership engagement. Some of our goals are to increase education and awareness of membership benefits, enhance connection between students across programs and connect students with physical therapy-related content through social media.
