Pediatric Certified Specialist (PCS) Spotlight

Dr. Rose was an adjunct professor with Drexel University, teaching a School Based Practice Course in the Advanced Pediatric Certificate Program. Over her 21 years with Fairfax County Public Schools, she served as the Clinical Coordinator for Clinical Education, and Knowledge Translation Facilitator for the PTOT program. She developed a knowledge translation and brokering program for physical and occupational therapists to translate research knowledge for educational relevance for children in the classroom. She is a past president of the VPTA Pediatric Special Interest Group. She currently serves on the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy Knowledge Translation Committee, Practice Committee, and as the Virginia State Representative to the Academy. She is a faculty member with the APPT KBNet Training Program.

Dr. Rose earned her board certification in pediatric physical therapy in 2008 after 26 years of practice. Achieving her PCS was a personal and professional goal. Her PCS supported her to further develop her practice skills and expertise within the context of school based practice. Board certification supported her collaboration with stakeholders in the school community to develop educationally relevance treatment interventions. Now in her 35th year of practice, she looks forward to recertifying her PCS board certification, continuing to serve children and families, and support our profession of physical therapy through committee and volunteer work.
