President's Message

Happy New Year from APTA Virginia! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. We are looking forward to a busy and exciting 2022, and you might have noticed that we have begun having in-person and hybrid events again at both the chapter and district levels. It has been great to start seeing everyone again and we will continue to push forward keeping safety in mind. Please check out a district event in your area to connect, network, and see all the opportunities your membership has to offer. On a related note, we will kick off our new continuing education offering entitled ‘Virginia is for Learners’ and will include both virtual and live courses across the state throughout the year. We anticipate a July start date so be on the lookout for programming near you.

This year is also starting off with a fast-moving legislative agenda to protect our practice interests. We need all hands-on deck so please be on the lookout for communication and template letters to send to your local legislators. Contact us at vpta@vpta.org if you’re interested in joining our efforts to safeguard our current scope of practice or want to learn more ways to get involved.

Finally, I am so appreciative of everyone at APTA Virginia for their hard work and dedication to our chapter. I wanted to give a particular shout-out to the folks on our Practice and Payor Relations Committee as well as our Legislative Committee. They have truly gone out of their way in recent weeks and months to look after our interests as a profession and help give answers and direction to clinicians and business owners who seek our help. Thank you all for your expertise and willingness to help our members.

Sincerely,

Tony Grillo, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
