President's Message

Welcome to summer! I hope everyone is enjoying warmer weather. As a chapter, we are coming off some very successful spring events, including our Spring Education Event which took place at ODU in April, as well as our Strategic Planning Leadership Workshop where many members and leaders provided valuable contribution to our future vision for the chapter. Our strategic plan will be available for members to view very soon, and I am happy to report that the chapter is in a solid financial position moving forward.

On the horizon, chapter leadership will be attending APTA’s annual Leadership Congress, which will take place in Alexandria, VA August 12-16, 2022. Chapters and components from across the country will be in town to participate in several events including student programming, House of Delegates, State Payment Advocacy Forum, PAC events, and more. Click here to see a schedule of programming.

We are most excited for the official launch of the Virginia is for Learners (VA4L) annual education series. We have transformed the way our chapter is offering education throughout the year with online and in-person courses. We will be rolling out our new learning management software (LMS) to offer real time and on-demand education with several options to choose from. Included in Virginia is for Learners is our Annual Fall Summit which will take place in-person on November 4-5. Emory & Henry University in Marion, VA has graciously offered to host the event, and has a wonderful facility to accommodate the variety of events. Some of the highlights will include educational offerings, the Annual Members Meeting, PAC Event, and student programing. Information on scheduling, programming, and registration for both VA4L events and the Fall Summit can be found here.

Thank you all for your membership. I hope everyone has a fun and eventful summer!

Sincerely,

Tony Grillo, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
