Students from PT & PTA programs in Virginia were among students from 146 schools that participated in the 2016-2017 VCU-Marquette Challenge, raising $340,986, with a record number of returning schools. Since its inception in 1989, 269 schools have participated in the Marquette Challenge and have raised a cumulative total of $3.7 million for the Foundation. District News
Brittany Samulski, PT, DPT, and Paulina Tapia, SPT, are the recipients of Tidewater's two scholarships for members to attend VPTA Annual Conference. Brittany received the stipend designated for a member of the Tidewater District Leadership Team. She serves as the Research Committee Member and will attend the LAMP course at Conference. Paulina Tapia, a second-year DPT student member from Hampton University, received the Andy Altman Memorial Scholarship and will attend clinical courses both days of Conference. Congratulations to both of these members! The Tidewater District hopes to continue offering these scholarships to VPTA course offerings in the future.
The Tidewater District has arranged for up to 40 PT/PTA volunteers to repair and update the sensory trail at EQUI-Kids in Virginia Beach on Saturday, October 14. Founded in 1989, EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program has grown to become one of the largest accredited equine riding programs in the country benefiting the special needs community.
