National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is successful in spreading awareness of work zone safety across the country because of involvement from organizations and individuals like you. Various levels of participation are available to all, so find out how you can help!
April 11 – Work Zone Safety Training Day
Companies are encouraged to pause during the workday for safety demonstrations, discussions about safety policies and other prevention steps to protect people in work zones.

April 12 – National kickoff event
The official NWZAW kickoff event will be hosted by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and held at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Project in Virginia. Follow #NWZAW on social media and share posts to spread the word. Or plan your own kickoff event in your area!

April 13 – Go Orange Day
Wear orange to proudly support work zone safety and the families of victims who have lost their lives in work zones. Post your orange pics on social media with #NWZAW and #Orange4Safety.
You can win a FREE REGISTRATION ($500 value) to next year's Spring Transportation Construction Conference by posting a picture of you wearing orange with the hashtags #NWZAW and #VTCAOrange to social media on Go Orange Day.
April 14 – Social media storm
Organizations, companies, institutions and individuals are asked to share messages and use hashtags #NWZAW and #WorkZoneSafety throughout social media between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
April 15 – Moment of Silence
This is new for 2022 and remembers the people who lost their lives in a work zone incident.
