  Curtis Lucado

With a heavy heart, VTCA wanted to pass on some news, particularly to the “old timers” with Florida Transportation Builders Association. Curtis Lucado passed away on August 31. Curtis was President of Wiley N. Jackson Company at the time of Wiley N. Jackson selling in 1987.

Curtis graduated from Virginia Military Institute, Class of 55’, with a degree in Civil Engineering with Honors. Following graduation, he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. In 1958, he began working as a Field Layout Engineer at Wiley N. Jackson Company in Roanoke Virginia. He worked his way through the ranks of the highway and heavy construction division, filling many positions within the company, until being named Executive Vice President in 1971 and President in 1982. He concluded his successful career in April 1992, retiring from Williams Construction Company in Baltimore, Maryland.
