VTCA and VDOT Hold First Industrial Materials Cooperative Meeting

Charter established. Barriers identified. Progress achieved.
At the request of our Associates Leadership Committee, VTCA has been in talks with VDOT to address some industrial materials issues that have not been addressed in other co-ops. After several months of discussions, VTCA and VDOT held its first co-op in late October. The group clarified several issues and established a positive framework going forward so we are working on the same page and achieving mutual progress on projects. Board member Carena Fisher, McPeak Supply, along with members from Hampton Roads, Salem and Bristol Districts were there to work with VDOT representatives.
Alongside a strong 2023 roll-out of VDOT’s projects, coordination from industry suppliers and VDOT’s Materials Division is going to be critical. Process improvement is constant and with staff rotations, working collaboratively and openly can ensure mutual success.
