VTCA Emerging Leaders Briefed on VTCA Legislative Engagement

VTCA’s Emerging Leaders spent the day in downtown Richmond to learn how VTCA advocates for its members at the General Assembly. VTCA staff teamed up with the Alliance’s lobbyists from Hunton Andrews Kurth to peel back the layers and complexity of a successful legislative advocacy program. With an emphasis on member involvement the group explored how VTCA engages with legislators to introduce new legislation as well as respond to unfavorable legislation.

Delegate Jeff Bourne (71st District) joined the group to share his experiences as a legislator as well as advice on how to effectively interact and support the lawmakers. Wrapping up the day the group walked to the Capitol Building for a guided tour of Virginia’s historic Capitol Building.
