Recently, there has been information released regarding a national initiative to establish a National Aggregates Research Center. The center’s working name is Aggregate Research, Geochemistry, and Technology (AggReGaTe).
The facilitating institutions would be Virginia Tech and the University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign, with Virginia Tech leading the institution.
The team is applying for a National Science Foundation grant that is due in December that will provide the “seed” funds to facilitate the research center. As part of the grant application, the team must demonstrate the need for this facility. Therefore, they are soliciting research needs through a survey.
Please take a few minutes and complete the survey at your earliest convenience, and share with other stakeholders within your organization and anyone you think may have an interest in aggregate research. Research conducted by this center will not be restricted to products utilized in infrastructure uses but can include processing and other aspects related to the aggregate industry.
