Virginia Energy and VTCA recognize individual miners who achieve milestones without any lost time accidents. Individual employee safety awards are presented to persons who reach fifteen or more consecutive years in the mining industry without a lost time injury during the calendar year. All individual award winners receive a certificate acknowledging their achievement.
The four Salem Stone miners were presented their certificates at celebratory luncheons conducted at Holston River Quarry on September 18 and at their ACCO Stone Plant on September 19.
The miners recognized are:
- Charles Dowdy - 35 years without a lost time injury
- Jeffery Giordano - 25 years without a lost time injury
- Ricky Huff - 25 years without a lost time injury
- Carl Kitchner - 15 years without a lost time injury
