VTCA's Executive Vice President Gordon Dixon, Communications and Membership Manager Kayla Singleton, and Aggregate Producer Program Manager Rob Lanham joined the NSSGA Legislative and Policy Forum on Capitol Hill on September 24-27. Along with an information-packed conference, the Forum also included legislative visits for state legislators. NSSGA had arranged nearly 300 meetings with aggregate industry representatives and members of Congress.
Among several issues conveyed by the industry were concerns over MSHA’s Proposed Silica Rule, improving rail service, workforce development, reauthorization of FAA programs, and IIJA funding.
The Virginia delegation met with staff members for the following legislators:
- Senator Tim Kaine
- Rep. Jennifer Wexton
- Rep. Don Beyer
- Rep. Rob Whitman
- Senator Mark Warner
- Rep. Abigail Spanberger
- Rep. Morgan Griffith
- Rep. Gerald Connolly
Interest was generated with several of the legislators visiting aggregate operations and joining upcoming VTCA events.
Luck Stone and Vulcan Materials members joined VTCA on our Capitol Hill visits. It was a busy couple of days with many steps accrued and we hope to see more members there next year!
