The Department of Workforce and Career Development is proud to host the 2024 #LifeReady Career Rodeo Skills Challenge on Tuesday, January 23 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Exhibition Hall of the Richmond Raceway Complex (600 E. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222).
The Career Rodeo offers students the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of various stakeholders, most notably potential employers. During the event, students from 36 CTE programs at the Advanced Career Education (ACE) Centers will solve work-based challenges demonstrating their hands-on skillset.
Industry partners will have the opportunity to give feedback, as well as leave with resumes in hand of students interested in summer or full-time employment. Last time, 440 resumes were given out. There will also be space available for limited on-site interviews. The Career Rodeo is the second of three events preparing students for future career success, with the culminating event being our CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day, which will be held on April 24. In the fall, the Life Ready Expo brought thousands of middle and high school students and their families together with industry partners to learn about career opportunities. It is through such career exploration and work-based learning experiences that our students can truly be #LifeReady.
If you would like to attend, register your business by Wednesday, January 10.
