VDOT Rolls Out Major Overhaul of Website

The Department of Transportation has completed a long overdue and major overhaul of its website, and soft launched the new website on December 8.

One of the biggest changes and improvements is the site’s full compliance with accessibility for those with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities. All material uploaded to the Department’s website will now be required to meet Federal Section 508 accessibility standards. This includes any industry documentation, reports, or other public information submitted to VDOT that may be posted on the new website.

The approximately 20,000 pages on the old website have been consolidated and in some cases removed completely. Additionally, to align the site’s web address with other Virginia state agencies, the virginiadot.org address will be replaced with vdot.virginia.gov.

Your saved bookmarks and links to the Department’s website may no longer be valid, so you are encouraged to review your company’s website links as well as related bookmarks for broken links.
