VA DEQ Announces Two New Watershed Cleanup Plans (TMDLs)

DEQ has released notifications for two Watershed Clean-Up Plans. While these appear to be focused on bacteria impairment, it is worth monitoring if you have operations in the listed watersheds. Also, if you do have operations in these watersheds, the Environmental Committee has recommendations to follow. Contact Rob Lanham if you have questions or need additional information.
Department of Environmental Quality
Title: Implementation Plan (IP) Community Engagement Meeting – Watershed Cleanup Plan for the Pigg River, Poplar Branch, Fryingpan Creek and Beaverdam Creek Franklin, Pittsylvania, and Bedford County, Virginia.
Time: April 18 at 4:30 p.m.
Location: Franklin County Public Library, 355 Franklin Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Upstairs Community Meeting Room. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on April 30, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. at the same location.

Time: April 12 at 10:00 a.m.
Location: George Washington Carver Agricultural Research Center, 9432 N James Madison Hwy, Rapidan, VA 22733 – Classroom #1. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on April 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
